Sunday Reset: A 20-Minute Weekly Family Planning Routine
A short Sunday reset that covers calendar, meals, and household tasks—so Monday starts calmer.
Monday feels chaotic when Sunday did nothing. A Sunday reset is not a productivity retreat— it is a 20-minute household briefing so the week has a shape before it starts.
The 20-minute Sunday reset
Minutes 1–7: Calendar scan
Open the shared family calendar. Mark late nights, early drop-offs, and anything that needs a packed lunch or a ride swap. Add missing events now—not Wednesday at 7 a.m.
Minutes 8–14: Meals
Assign dinners for the busiest nights. Keep two evenings flexible. Use a simple weekly meal planning system, then add groceries to one shared shopping list.
Minutes 15–20: Tasks and owners
Review open household to-dos. Assign owners and due dates for anything that must happen this week. Details live in household to-dos for working parents.
Keep the reset short on purpose
If Sunday planning takes an hour, it will not survive sports seasons. Time-box it. Done and imperfect beats unfinished and ideal.
Make it a family ritual
Do the reset with a coffee, after breakfast, or while kids do quiet time. Consistency matters more than the exact hour.
